no gigs at the moment..
its all about the albums, baby
boo-ya...salutations...alllreeeeetttttt?
In the beginning there was Michael Jackson...and he was good (or not, like whatever you think...)...but cos the blighter's posthumous record sales have shot through the roof, our album has been held up in production....d'oh! We were supposed to be holding the silver discs of wonder in our hands, carefully flicking through the shiny pages of the booklet and sleeping with one under our pillow by now...but MJ made us wait...Monday morning, fingers crossed...when we've got 'em, i might give you a tour.
But that shouldn't stop the virtual wheels rolling into motion, as you can now preorder your copy, ready for 14.09.09 here: http://www.thegenepool.co.uk/items/352.htm - how exciting. Its a very reasonable £8.99 as well, so don't say we don't look after your best interests.
What else?
Well, i got a hand-me-down ipod t'other day and suddenly my day is filled with music, which is pretty, damn fine, as the silence was sending me a bit loopy...all that time alone with your thoughts - yikes! anyway, on my way home one day i was listening to The Holy Bible by MSP and was thinking what a fine, fine album it was and then i started compiling a top ten album list in my head, which goes something like this, in no particular order and missing out many, many greatly loved musical treats:
Bjork - Homogenic
PJ Harvey - Dry
Hole - Pretty on the Inside
MSP - The Holy Bible
dEUS - In a Bar, Under the Sea
Alice in Chains - Dirt
Nirvana - In Utero
Tori Amos - Boys for Pele
QUOTSA - Songs for the Deaf
Sonic Youth - Washing Machine
but they're all very comfotable and familiar like that tatty jumper you wear on sundays and when you're ill that feels like a whooly hug. So I have two questions:
1) what's your top ten albums of all time?
2) what one album should I hear before I die?
I know, I know, they've been asked before, but I'm asking now...and I need answers :)
no need for a postcard...just post a comment below...on the down low...how low can you go?
bo.

well that's two
Posted by brigit on 17th September 2009well that's two recommendations so I better get listening!
Again in no particular
Posted by Rob D (not verified) on 27th July 2009Again in no particular order:
Nine Inch Nails - Downward Spiral
Marilyn Manson - Portrait of an American Family
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead -Source, Tags and Code
MSP - Holy Bible
Tool - Undertow
Rancid - And Out Come the Wolves
Aphex Twin - Drukqs (maybe)
Bikini Kill - Pussy Whipped
There's probably plenty of albums I should've included in there, but they escape me at the minute.
One album to hear before you die from that list? Probably Portrait of an American Family. Pretty raw, crazy collaged kind of album. Marylin Manson's demos and bootleg stuff has lots of crazy poems, noise, samples and weirdness that got lost as he went on. Shame that.
yes, thank u! few in there
Posted by brigit on 28th July 2009yes, thank u! few in there that were contenders for mine and love the fact that you've got tool and bikini kill in the same list...i will be checkin' out the manson album...i think with all these suggestions spotify might be the way to go first, before i COMMIT to the exchanging of hard cash....
